Abstract

  • In September 2018, the number of poor people (population with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Bengkulu Province reached 303,545 people (15.41 percent), an increase of 922 people compared to September 2017 which was 302,623 people (15, 59 percent).
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2017 was 15.41 percent, down to 14.94 percent in September 2018. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in September 2017 was 15.67 percent, down to 15.64 percent in September 2018.
  • During the period September 2017 – September 2018, the number of poor people in urban areas fell by 413 people (from 97,155 people in September 2017 to 96,742 people in September 2018), while in rural areas there were 1,335 people (from 205,468 people in September 2017 to 206,803 people in September 2018).
  • The role of food commodities on the poverty line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in September 2018 was recorded at 74.55 percent. This condition has decreased compared to the conditions in September 2017, which amounted to 76.72 percent.
