Abstract

  • In March 2019, the number of poor people (residents with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Bengkulu Province reached 302,302 people (15.23 percent), an increase of 488 people compared to the conditions in March 2018 of 301,814 people (15 , 43 percent). 
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2018 was 15.25 percent, down to 14.70 percent in March 2019. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2018 was 15.52 percent, down to 15.49 percent in March 2019. 
  • During the period March 2018-March 2019, the number of poor people in urban areas decreased by 952 people (from 97,470 people in March 2018 to 96,518 people in March 2019), while in rural areas there were 1,438 people (from 204,345 people in March 2018 to March 2018) 205,783 people in March 2019). 
  • The role of food commodities on the Poverty Line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). Contribution of Food Poverty Line to Poverty Line in March 2019 was recorded at 73.89 percent. This condition has decreased when compared to the conditions in March 2018 which amounted to 75.55 percent.
