Abstract

In July 2020, Bengkulu City experienced a deflation of 0.23 percent. Based on the monitoring of the Central Statistics Agency in 90 cities in Indonesia, 29 cities experienced inflation and 61 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Timika at 1.45 percent and the lowest inflation in Jember and Banyuwangi at 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari by 1.09 percent and the lowest occurred in Gunung Sitoli, Bogor, Bekasi, Luwuk and Bulukumba by 0.01 percent.
The deflation in Bengkulu City in July 2020 occurred due to a price decline which was indicated by a decrease in several price indexes of the expenditure group. The expenditure groups that experienced the highest deflation were the transportation group by 1.20 percent followed by the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.37 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuels by 0.13 percent and household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.09 percent. While the expenditure group experiencing inflation was the personal care and other services group by 1.08 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.66 percent; health group of 0.34 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.11 percent and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.06 percent. While the stable expenditure groups are the information, communication and financial services group and the education group.
With deflation of 0.23 percent in July 2020, the magnitude of calendar year inflation (inflation rate) of 0.08 percent, and annual inflation (year on year) was recorded at 0.42 percent.
