Abstract

  • In August 2019, Bengkulu City experienced a deflation of 0.86 percent. Based on the monitoring of the Central Statistics Agency in 82 cities in Indonesia, 44 cities experienced inflation and 38 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kudus by 0.82 percent and the lowest inflation in Tasikmalaya, Madiun and Pare-pare by 0.04 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Bau-bau by -2.10 percent and the lowest occurred in Tegal and Palopo by -0.02 percent.
  • Deflation in Bengkulu City in August 2019 occurred in two expenditure groups, while five expenditure groups experienced inflation. The expenditure group experiencing deflation was the transportation, communication and financial services group with deflation of -3.20 percent and the Foodstuffs expenditure group of -1.27 percent. While the expenditure group experiencing the highest inflation was the Clothing expenditure group by 0.84 percent, followed by the Health expenditure group by 0.27 percent, the processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco expenditure group by 0.09 percent, the Housing, water, electricity expenditure group , gas and fuel by 0.08 percent and the education, recreation and sports expenditure group by 0.08 percent.
  • With a deflation of 0.86 percent in August 2019, the magnitude of calendar year inflation (inflation rate) was 2.49 percent, and year-on-year inflation was recorded at 3.35 percent.
